CTE Policy and Leadership Fellowship
The MACTA Career and Technical Education Policy and Leadership Fellowship is a year-long leadership fellowship focusing on state and federal education policy through the lens of Career and Technical Education (CTE). The 2023-2024 academic year is the third year of the program. The goal of the fellowship is to build long-term capacity planning across the state of CTE leaders that have a greater understanding of CTE policy and how to navigate the structures of state and federal government. A secondary goal is to have a broader network of highly knowledgeable CTE champions across the state to assure a strong career and technical educational foundation and workforce and voice well into the future.
Minnesota Association for Career and Technical Administrators (MACTA) provides leadership that promotes a world-class career and technical education system for Minnesota.

About the Program
The fellowship program instructional process is designed primarily to be experiential. Fellows will not only learn from their own colleagues, but also from key members of Minnesota’s executive and legislative staff. The culmination of the fellowship will be attendance at ACTE’s National Policy Seminar in Washington, DC where fellows will also have the opportunity to learn directly from national policy leaders. The fellowship is designed to take place as several full-day, intensive and intentional learning experiences followed up by virtual sessions over the course of the year. The basic schedule with learning experiences are described below. The final schedule, session locations, and topics are subject to change dependent on availability of speakers and reflective of current events. Final schedule will be announced prior to the official start of the fellowship.
Program Fee: The fellowship program fee is $2,000, however with generous support from Minnesota Department of Education & Minnesota State Perkins Leadership funds, MACTA is able to offer the program in 2023/24 for the cost of $650 per fellow. This cost includes all expenses related to the actual program (e.g., materials, instructional expenses, catering, speaker expenses, National Policy Seminar registration). The program fee does not cover lodging and travel. The program fee and travel expenses are eligible as Perkins expenditures, provided they are in alignment with your consortium’s defined Perkins plan. Potential fellows should check with their Perkins Consortium leadership to determine funding eligibility and availability.
