MnACTE is proud to recognize Debby Odell of the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) as this year’s Award of Merit winner.
Debby has served the State of Minnesota for more than 30 years, including her time with the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), when the licensing unit was housed within the agency, and now with PELSB. As Licensing and Operations Manager at PELSB, Debby works closely with Career and Technical Education (CTE) licensure.
Debby brings deep knowledge of CTE fields and licenses, including bachelor’s degree exemptions and the unique aspects of CTE licensure within Tier 1 and Tier 2 rules. Over the years, she has helped hundreds of teachers navigate the licensing process. She shared that one of her favorite parts of her work is helping a teacher who is stuck in the process, especially the moment when they finally earn their permanent professional license.
Debby exemplifies civil service and the mission of government to serve the public. Thank you, Debby, for your outstanding service and dedication to Minnesota educators.
