MACTA Advocacy
The MACTA Public Policy & Advocacy Committee Mission Advocate with makers, administrators, parents, students, instructors, businesses, and other partners to secure the resources to build a world-class Career and Technical Education system.
Legislative Priorities
1. Secure Resources MACTA and MnACTE will work with policymakers to secure the resources necessary to build a world-class Career and Technical Education system in Minnesota. To achieve this, the Minnesota State Legislature should:
Provide state aid, in addition to the current CTE levy, for state-approved secondary career and technical education programs.
Maintain the current formula for calculating the local levy for state-approved secondary CTE programs.
2. Ensure CTE Representation MACTA and MnACTE will advocate to ensure that CTE programs are equally represented in Education Excellence initiatives funded by the State of Minnesota. To achieve this, the Minnesota State Legislature should:
Recognize and provide appropriations for Articulated College Credit initiatives as forms of Dual Enrollment, Concurrent Enrollment, Post-Secondary Enrollment Options, and College in the Schools.
Recognize and fund opportunities for career and technical educators in agriscience, health sciences, and family and consumer sciences to participate in STEM and academic program initiatives.
Provide funding for secondary CTE programs that expand educational opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
Support career and technical education initiatives that contribute to high school redesign and innovation efforts.
